Barcelona Attractions for Free

With the right research and some patience, you could take in the best of Barcelona on a shoestring budget. Here are some tips to get you started:

La Rambla

This 4000 feet long avenue stretching through the heart of Barcelona offers some of the best entertainment to tourists, all for free. Spend your morning here and enjoy the fine display of flowers, arts, souvenirs and art put on by the local marketers while being entertained by the many human statues dotting the Rambla.

La Bouqueria

While on the Rambla, step into La Bouqueria on your right (just before you hit Theatre Liceu) to take in one of the most incredible spreads of fresh produce you will ever behold. Designed as an indoor food market, the stalls hold a bewildering array of fruits, vegetables, meats, cheeses and seafood, all under one roof. The colors and variety alone merit a visit.

Stroll down Passeig de Gracia

Lined by the best luxury stores in town on either side, this beautiful boulevard is a must visit for the fashionistas. Window shopping is for free and just strolling down the length of the street, with its gorgeous architecture, many cafes and beautiful lamps is a pleasure.

The Museums of Barcelona

Most Barcelona museums offer one day a month where you can enter for free; these are mostly the first Sunday of the month but look up your favorite museums online. Visit top Barcelona Attractions for free including Museu Picasso, Miro Foundation and Musee de Historia de Catalunya. The Caixa Forum is an excellent art gallery featuring mostly Art Nouveau artists and has no entrance fee.
The best of Gaudi
Gaudi’s masterpiece, Parc Guell, is located a short bus ride away from the city centre. With no entrance fee, you could stroll in and spend several hours enjoying the pleasures of the park and admiring the genius of its creator’s vision. You could take in part of his other works like La Pedrera, Casa Battlo, Palau Guell and Sagrada Familia from the outside, for their exteriors are as worthy of admiration as are the interiors.
Barri Gottic
Barcelona’s old quarters are a treasure of narrow streets, gothic architecture and beautiful plazas hiding in between the maze like lanes. Get lost in it one afternoon and discover the beauty of Barcelona from a whole different perspective.
Las Playas de Barcelona
The sun, surf and beaches are an undeniable part of the city’s charm and one Barcelona attraction that comes absolutely for free. Pack up your towels, book and lotion and head out for a lazy snooze on any of Barcelona’s many wonderful beaches.
Fira de Barcelona
Also called the magic fountains, these are luxurious fountains laid out outside of the National Palace that put up a beautiful sound, light and water show during the summer evenings. You will have to wait a bit for the natural light to get dark but it’s well worth the wait and you could take in the Montjuic Parks spread out higher up to kill some time.
