| Lisbon AttractionsIf you never have been in Lisbon – you don´t know what you are missing. If you have, for sure you didn’t come here only one time. It is enough that you just take a walk though Lisbon and feel the history of the city. The streets of Lisbon are full of heritage monuments, and you will feel like in a fairy tale. The modern part of the heart of Lisbon in called - Parque das Naçoes. The monumental part of Lisbon is called – Belém. Lisbon is full of monuments, parks, gardens, esplanades, cafes… once when you visit this city, you will never want to go back home again. One of the most attractive parts of Lisbon is Bairro Alto. This part is full of coffees, and when you go out there at night, you can be sure that you will have a lot of fun. You will find for sure something interesting for yourself because you will be able to choose from hundreds of cafes. Near Bairo Alto, you will find the part called Chiado. This part of Lisbon is "reserved" for artists, intellectuals and young people. Next to Chiado, is a part of Lisbon called Carmo, which is connected to one of the biggest attractions of Lisbon, and that is the Elevador de Santa Justa. This elevator is constructed by Gustave Eiffel, the same person that constructed the Eiffel Tower in France, or the Statue of Liberty in New York. Many historical castles can be found across the Lisbon. You will be amazed how this town managed to save all of its historical monuments, and make from them great touristic attractions. But one of the biggest Lisbon attractions is the Belém. Belém is connected to ancient Portuguese discoveries as a place from where the navigators sailed from to discover the world. Some of the biggest attractions in the Belèm are – Belém cultural center, Torre de Belém, Jerónimos Monastery, etc. While you are there, don’t forget to try out the famous Pastéis de Belém, traditional sweet cream cakes. The modern part of Lisbon is called Parque das Nações. This is a place where you can take a walk near the river, and where you can see the famous bridge Vasco da Gama, the longest bridge in Europe. This is actually the fifth longest bridge in the world, and it is pretty amazing. In this part of Lisbon, don’t forget to visit the Oceanário de Lisboa, which is one of the biggest aquariums in Europe. If you like history, don’t miss out the monument of Convento de Cristo, which was put under the heritage of UNESCO. Also, don’t miss out to see the Sintra, place of castles and nature. This is where Lord Byron created some of his best poems. The most important attractions of Sintra are the Parque da Pena and the Jardins de Monserrate. But the thing for what almost all tourists come here are the beaches. The Lisbon area is full of beautiful beaches such as Tagus - a place with calm water, Carcavelos - a beach ideal for surfing, Guincho – the best beach for windsurfers, Costa do Estoril – one of the most romantic beaches, etc. Once when you visit Lisbon, and enjoy in all of the Lisbon attractions, you will completely fall in love with this city. It is no wonder why many people come here to forget about their problems, and to even spend their last days here. Lisbon is a place for all people, of all ages! |
