pula roman forumThe scenic city of Pula is located on the Istrian peninsula on the southern tip and is the largest city in this area - Istria county, Croatia. Looking out into the Adriatic Sea and settled below the seven hills, the city has unspoiled natural surrounding that gives Pula a magical aura. The city is also famous for its calm beautiful sea and the warm climate; apart from tourism, shipbuilding, winemaking, and fishing are some of the traditional occupation that is still being carried out and a source of income for the people. The Arena (Amphitheater): The Arena amphitheater built in 96 A.D. is one of the largest remaining amphitheaters and has the capacity to accommodate 22,000 spectators. The Arena is the 6 largest existing amphitheaters seen today. In the present time, the amphitheater is used to show theater, music concerts, and other performances and is used as a concert hall.

Triumphal Arch of the Sergi
Another famous Site you should include in your itinerary is the Triumphal Arch of the Sergi. This
Golden Gate was built to show respect to three family members of the builder, Salvia Postuma Sergi. These three male members were martyred in the Actium battle.

The Temple of Augustus
This temple was built to honor the first Roman Emperor, Augustus and today houses an envious collection of Roman sculptures.

The Forum
This forum is located in the place (heart of Pula) where the forum of the ancient Romans was. In this town square you will find the Temple of Augustus as well as a 10th century city hall.

Apart from these, churches like the Cathedral of Assumption, the Franciscan Church and Monastery, the Archeological Museum of Istria are other places you must visit.
